How can you not fall in love with this 1996 5-speed Camry coupe with only 78k and one-owner? Only $3,800. Pardon the dealer speak, but this is a legit cream puff.

Yeah, I had a 1999 Solara V6 manual and it was a lot of fun. At the same time my mom had a 2000 Solara with the 2.2 liter 4 cylinder and an automatic, it was not fun, it was the absence of fun.

The 3rd-gen Camry is the best car ever made.
My ES300 has more luxury and prestige, but no manual transmission

You're right, I don't hate it.
Then again, I don't hate the Prius either.

Wondering the same thing

You couldn't get a Gen 3 Camry coupe with a V6 and 5-speed. You know that!

That would be an amazing DD for longish commutes.

Actually, you could, but only very early in its run in 93 (it was introduced in the middle of the 1993 model year, so the combo was indeed possible)

You sure? I know back in the early days of ToyotaNation, people were converting their V6 coupes to 5-speed (who am I kidding, it was only Rakto) because they weren't factory available. I'd personally go for a 93 coupe, with a 1MZ-FE swapped in and a TRD Supercharger. 5-speed, of course.

Fun.... fun spinning tires in the wet ALL THE TIME. And don't get me started on the lack of traction in the snow (2nd gear starts are a must).
Plus 1st gear being too short, the wheelhop from the econo-car suspension.....

Whoops, yeah I made a mistake. My bad. So now it looks like the coupe never got the 3VZ, and that the coupes sold during 1993 were actually 94's with the 1MZ-FE which wasn't available with a manual until the next generation (97-01), but unfortunately the ES300 would never see that option again :(
Honestly, I really don't like transverse V6 engines because they are difficult to work on like my 1MZ and the 2VZ from my previous car. The TRD supercharger is awesome though.
The Solara was available with a V6 manual, as was the 4g Camry, and I think both of them are lighter than the 3g and still good cars even if the later years were a step back in some ways.

Can't imagine anyone would want to buy this Camry on Oppo. Just thought it was a cool find we made while digging around our website.

I've always loved the Solara with the TRD kit/rims. It was my go to jizz-mobile before I discovered the IS300.

I will dispute that claim. I hate it. Still super beige. Even worse because Toyota still made the Supra when this was new. So this car is like the Solara's grandfather, the genesis of their ultra-beige credo. Steven Tyler wearing skinny jeans and having a face madeout of plastic covered in an inch of makeup doesn't make him as young as young as he once was. At least with him, I'm sure he can still rock, and nobody chooses to get old. Carmakers do have that choice. This Camry was the safe choice for a man treating himself to one last almost-but-not-quute-frivolous purchase before kicking the bucket.

I actually prefer roll down windows. Can roll down windows with or without key.

Rolling down windows without key < rolling down any window in the car while in motion without killing yourself.

My response: Plan ahead. If I am going on the highway I only use 2 of 4 windows for easy access.

also plan ahead and roll your windows while the car is still on....... Also, what if it starts raining and your back windows are down? Not using 2 windows is not an answer.

If it starts raining and my rear windows are down I roll them up. What do you do if it starts raining?
![]() 06/20/2014 at 09:33 |

if you are driving, you have to stop to roll them up. I don't have to stop.
